Certain areas of the 6.0L have needed some extra attention. The most common issue with the 6.0L engine is that when extra power is introduced, coolant has a tendency to blow out the coolant reservoir. We have come up with a few steps to eliminate this problem. The EGR cooler on the engine uses coolant to cool the exhaust gases before they enter the EGR valve. The issue that arises is that the hot exhaust is at such a high temperature that it causes the coolant to overheat and boil. This boiling of the coolant causes coolant to spew from the coolant reservoir cap. To alleviate this problem we have a few options.
EGR Cooler Block off Plate: Eliminates the heat-flashing of the coolant by stopping exhaust flow from entering the EGR cooler. This install usually requires removing or loosening the turbo to install. The end result is disguised and only discovered upon disassembly, excellent for trucks that need to maintain a factory appearance. On certain trucks this modification may set a check engine light, our custom tuner can eliminate this condition. 60EGRBO $35.00 Up-pipe with EGR pipe Delete: This is a replacement uppipe that no longer has the exhaust pipe extension to allow exhaust flow into the EGR cooler. This modification also removes the restrictive scoop found inside most uppipes. This works the same as the EGR plate but improves performance by removing restriction in the exhaust. Pipe comes with 4 new fasteners, nuts, and gasket.

Once performance upgrades are done to 6.0L engine the integrity of the head gasket can be compromised. The factory head bolts (especially on the 2003-04 engines) are susceptible to stretching and then the head gasket clamp force is lost. Combustion pressures can escape past the head gasket and cause coolant pressurization to occur at this point, leading to coolant loss, overheating, and power loss. We recommend replacing the head bolts with our high strength head studs. If coolant loss has been occurring then we recommend replacing the head gaskets at this time also. If you have plans for a high power application then we recommend our fire ring kit to eliminate any possibility of combustion pressure leakage. Head Stud Kit: This kit includes high-strength H-11 tool steel head studs, washers, and nuts. The top of each stud has a hex broach to aid in installation of studs. Studs are rated at a minimum of 240,000 psi tensile strength. 60HS $775.00 Fire Ring Kit: To eliminate any chance of combustion pressures escaping past the head gasket we have developed a fire ring kit. The fire ring now seals the combustion from leaking and is a much more positive seal than the multi-layers of the stock gasket. This kit requires machining of the cylinder heads to accept the fire ring grooves. 60FR $675.00 Fire Ring Kit with Head Machining: Includes Fire Ring kit plus precision machining of cylinder heads. 60FRM $1450.00 Coolant Circulation Lines: To help with the poor cooling characteristics of the 6.0L we have developed a coolant bypass kit. This kit includes fittings and lines to circulate coolant out of high spots in the head that can develop into hot spots and cause overheating. Requires drilling of heads and front of engine plate. Must be done with heads removed. We recommend this anytime head studs or fire rings are installed. 60CC $150.00 CNC Ported Cylinder Heads: The best way to make additional power is through improved airflow. We have been working on different port techniques to arrive at our current configuration. Heads will have CNC ported intake and exhaust ports along with multi-angle valve job. Crucial work is performed to the short-side radius of both the intake and exhaust ports. These heads have produced between 25-35rwhp on our test trucks over 500hp. We can do these heads on a limited exchange basis with an initial core charge that is refundable upon thorough inspection of your returned heads. After inspection of your core cylinder heads, a core credit will be sent to you on a pro-rated basis up to the full core refund. Core charge is $2000. Does not include Job 2 cylinder heads, Job 2 heads must be sent in for porting. 60CNCS1 $1950.00 CNC Ported Cylinder Heads WITH Fire Ring: Same as 60CNCS1, but with Fire Ring machining, Fire Rings, and Head Gaskets. 60CNCS2 $3100.00 Low Pressure Oil Pump Gears: This item becomes a weak link on high horsepower 6.0L engines. We have developed a set of gears made of a high strength stainless steel that is much more resistant to breaking under pressure. Replacement of these gears ahead of time will save a costly repair of gears and the front engine cover. Now taking orders. 60LPOP $1200.00
Elite Diesel Engine Internals 94.5-03 7.3L Powerstroke When power output is increased the 7.3 has areas of needed improvement. Connecting rods on the later model engines are of a powdered metal design and are known to be weak and prone to shattering and at even higher power levels the factory forged rods are known to bend. Also at higher power levels the head gasket is unable to contain the cylinder pressure. At this point we recommend head studs or head studs in combination with our fire ring kit. HS73 Head Stud Kit $800.00
This kit includes high-strength H-11 tool steel head studs, washers, and nuts. The top of each stud has a hex broach to aid in installation of studs. Studs are rated at a minimum 240,000 psi tensile strength. 73FR Fire Ring Kit $575.00 This kit is the ultimate in containing cylinder pressure. Worry about head gasket failure is no longer an issue with our fire ring kit. The factory gaskets fire ring is replaced with a mild steel fire ring which sets in a machined groove in cylinder head. Cylinder head machining is required. Includes gaskets and fire rings. 73FRM Fire Ring Kit with Head Machining $1250.00 Includes fire ring kit plus machining of cylinder heads. 720211 Fluidampr Harmonic Balancer $415.00 Remove dangerous torsional vibrations and gain power at the same time. Engine internals are subject to high stresses. When power increases are added this stress is multiplied. Bring your engine back to a safer level. Not only will you feel the difference you will gain power at the same time.
